COVID-19 Safety Protocols

Safety is Priority #1 at the Calgary Fringe, and we have set in place reasonable and practical steps to best protect the health and safety of all our Calgary Fringe participants at our indoor theatre venue (Festival Hall – 1215-10 Ave SE) and at our Lawn Chair Fringe outdoor performance venue (Gopher Park – corner of 11 Ave and 11 Str SE) for this year’s Calgary Fringe – Your Summer FRINGEcation Destination event.

Participant adherence is at the core of our COVID-19 safety plan and we will communicate in various ways to ensure a shared understanding of safety priorities. Signage reminding participants to regularly sanitize their hands, maintain social distance with those outside their cohort as may be required, and avoid touching their face will be posted in high-traffic areas. Event hosts and COVID Safety Officers may provide verbal reminders, as needed.

**IF YOU ARE SICK, STAY HOME! and if required, contact AHS for further assessment and instructions. Then email boxoffice@calgaryfringe to notify us that you are unable to attend. Tickets for in-person performances at Festival Hall will be converted to live stream access so patrons can view the show online. Tickets for Lawn Chair Fringe will be re-allocated to another performance date and time at the discretion of the presenting artist group, A Levity Theatre Co.

**UPDATED JULY 28, 2021: Due to the exponential rise in COVID-19 cases since Stampede has ended, MASKS are now required to be worn in shared indoor spaces like Festival Hall. Patrons may remove their masks when they are settled in their seats inside the performance area. If a patron wishes to leave their seats (for example, to use the washroom or to purchase food and beverages), then a mask is to be worn. Consumption of food and beverages will be restricted to patron seats and to designated areas within the Festival Hall lobby, where masks may be removed to allow for eating and drinking. All Fringe staff and volunteers will be wearing masks at all times while serving the public.

**Anyone unable to wear a mask due to a medical condition will require a medical exemption letter from an authorized health professional.

**Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the lobby area and in the washrooms of Festival Hall. We also encourage participants to bring their own. We will be regularly cleaning and sanitizing the lobby, washrooms, and seating areas in Festival Hall throughout the event.

**Seating at Festival Hall will be organized into a combination of cohort groups and individual seating, “funky cabaret style”, for social-distancing purposes as may be needed. Seating capacity has been reduced to properly accommodate for this.

**Seating at Gopher Park will be organized into “cohort family picnic circles” for social-distancing purposes as may be needed. Seating capacity has been reduced to properly accommodate for this.

**We highly recommend and encourage eligible folks to receive their vaccine, but we will not require vaccination for entrance to the event.
