Pay What You Want Ticketing Policy
The Calgary International Fringe Festival Society (Calgary Fringe) is committed to accessibility and inclusion. Our Pay What You Want (aka PWYW) program is designed to ensure patrons facing financial barriers have the opportunity to attend performances at any of our events. To protect the integrity of this program and ensure fair access, the following conditions apply:
Purpose of PWYW
PWYW tickets are intended for patrons who would otherwise be unable to afford full price tickets. These tickets are courtesy of the artist and, therefore, they are not intended to be used to hold seats without attending, or as a substitute for full price tickets when a patron has the financial ability to pay.
Booking Rules
**1. PWYW tickets may be reserved in advance, subject to availability.
**2. PWYW tickets may only be used for the performances for which they are booked on as all tickets are non-refundable.
**3. A maximum of 2 tickets per performance per patron will offered at the PWYW price.
Consequences of Misuse
PWYW ticket reservations should reflect genuine intent to attend. Repeated no shows, large scale seat reservations, or other misuse of the program will result in loss of PWYW access. Misuse of the program will be documented and result in loss of PWYW access.
**1. First incident will result in a verbal and written warning.
**2. Continued misuse will result in a written warning, suspension of PWYW access for the current year including Calgary Fringe events like the Calgary Fringe Theatre Festival.
**3. Severe or repeated misuse will result in a permanent ban from attending Calgary Fringe events.
Patrons may be required to pay the standard ticket price for PWYW reservations. In cases of repeated abuse, the Calgary Fringe reserves the right to issue an invoice for tickets reserved under the PWYW system at the full ticket price.
Calgary Fringe Authority
All decisions regarding PWYW misuse will follow the above guidelines in accordance with the Calgary Fringe Board rules and regulations. These decisions are binding and final. Patrons who attempt to attend after a ban will be refused entry. These measures protect access for patrons with financial barriers and support fair revenue for self- producing artists.
